About Bertrand Consulting
I believe practical training goes beyond telling property management professionals what to do—rather, I focus on the why. Understanding the reasoning behind industry best practices leads to better decision-making, more substantial compliance, and a more engaged workforce.
My approach is grounded in scientific research on learning and motivation:
Retention & Compliance: When people understand why policies exist, they retain information longer and are more likely to follow them.
Critical Thinking & Problem-Solving: Knowing the "why" helps professionals confidently navigate real-world challenges.
Persuasion & Influence: Whether advocating for policy changes or communicating with residents, understanding the reasoning behind decisions leads to more substantial, more effective conversations.
This work is personal. As a renter in Portland for over a decade, I've seen firsthand how strong relationships between housing providers and residents create stable communities. Property management professionals play a key role in fostering safe, peaceful housing for all—regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, marital status, familial status, source of income, or disability.
I work with large property management companies, independent landlords, and industry vendors to provide tailored training that ensures professionals at every level have the knowledge and skills they need to succeed.
At Bertrand Consulting, I train professionals and equip them with the reasoning, skills, and confidence to build stronger communities and a better housing industry.
About the Founder
I am a seasoned property management professional and industry leader dedicated to enhancing the success of landlords, property managers, and suppliers. With over a decade of experience, I have excelled in property management operations, compliance, and training, holding leadership roles across various organizations.
Currently, as the incoming Director of Training and Development at the newly launched Stratum, I design and implement training programs to ensure operational efficiency and pave the foundation for the company’s success.
Previously, I was a Leadership Executive, Director of Operations, and Director of Training at several prominent industry providers, leading Fair Housing and landlord-tenant law training, ensuring compliance with local and state regulations.
I have influenced industry standards through my involvement with Multifamily Northwest, teaching at major industry conferences and chairing the Forms Committee in 2020. I continue to contribute as Secretary, developing standardized leasing documents to aid property management professionals in navigating Portland’s rental regulations.
In my advocacy work, I have shaped housing policies, participating in legislative work groups and lobbying efforts to represent housing providers at both state and federal levels.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History from the University of Hawaii at Hilo, along with certifications in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and Professional Writing. Passionate about fostering a compliant and ethical industry, I remain committed to supporting landlords, property managers, and industry professionals in adapting to the dynamic rental landscape of Portland.
Outside of my professional work, I enjoy hiking and biking the beautiful Pacific Northwest with my husband and son.
